Jason R. Keifer, MD, is double board-certified in adult and child & adolescent psychiatry with additional training in systemic and structural family therapy. He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2001. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Southern California, adult psychiatry residency at the University of California San Diego and fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Dr. Keifer specializes in interventions and treatment for child and adolescent conditions including: toddler/childhood/adolescent emotional & behavioral problems, sleep training, family adjustment & transition, parent management, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anorexia and bulimia. With over 10 years of experience successfully treating eating disorders, Dr. Keifer is the only board-certified psychiatrist on Oahu offering state-of-the-art family therapy and family-based treatment for anorexia or bulimia.
Dr. Keifer is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the John A. Burns School of Medicine and directs the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Family Therapy seminar. He activley supervises and teaches doctors-in-training (psychiatry residents and clinical psychologists) family therapy techniques on a wide spectrum of childhood and adolescent conditions. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Association of Family Psychiatrists.
Prior to opening his private practice, Dr. Keifer was the clinical director at the Leeward Oahu and Honolulu Family Guidance Centers. He has lived and worked on Oahu for over 10 years.
